Meet Jamie Gibson – AKA Flightess

Jamie is a luxury hospitality expert and chef. Flightess was founded in 2018 and is now the largest online resource and platform for Corporate Flight Attendants in the world.

We sat down with Jamie to get a glimpse into the world of a Corporate Flight attendant and how MY DRAP fits into her daily routine.

What does a day for a corporate flight attendant look like?

There are essentially 2 types of days. We have prep days and flight days. On prep days we spend the day shopping and restocking everything we need for the flight. Including in-store shopping and placing orders with the caterers etc. On the day of the flight, you would arrive 2 hours prior with all of your shopping bags, flower arrangements, etc. You prep the plane, make sure the toilettes are working, ensure there are no fingerprints anywhere onboard, prep some type of welcome setup, prep the food and the linen for turndown service, etc. Once the guests arrive, it’s basically just making sure they have everything they need at all times. Be it meals, bed prepping for overnight flights, drinks, snacks, etc.

How did you find MY DRAP?

I came across it on a plane I was contracting on. I was just astonished at the fact that they were cotton, single-use, or reusable. I started using them in so many different ways not just as a cocktail napkin but also as a buffer for any charger plate when presenting a beautiful salad or main dish so the china on china doesn’t clink. I also love the pop of contrast it gives when I use a Petrol Blue color or the like.

I also remember once when I was in Spain for culinary school, where MY DRAP originated, walking into a boutique store and seeing a full wall of MY DRAP, every color, and size, and just instantly falling in love with the brand.

How does MY DRAP facilitate and elevate your work?

MY DRAP elevates my work in so many ways. As an example, when delivering a cocktail or little latte to my guests, I use a cute petrol blue MY DRAP napkin customized with the words “have a drink on us”. It’s just a small way to add a little luxury touch and personalize the experience for my guests. It’s not a paper napkin, it’s something beautiful.

I use MY DRAP for the guests but I mainly use it to help me enhance the presentation. I use the luncheon size to help with food presentation, for drinks services, or when serving any sort of alcoholic beverage. I always serve it with a snack such as a little ramekin of nuts and I use the cocktail napkin size underneath both to help marry the presentation together. It is also extremely practical as my guests can use them as a napkin to wipe the salt from the nuts or liquid from the cocktail off their face when they are done.

What’s your favorite MY DRAP product?

Definitely the cocktail napkin, it’s the most universal and versatile product and it really adds a luxurious touch to every part of the guest experience. As an example, I use it as a charger when I go around with lotion after our warm towel service. I use MY DRAP for multiple purposes. The next favorite product is the luncheon size napkin, especially for plating and the welcome table. My favorite colors would have to be the Classic Cream and the Petrol Blue.
