There is seriously nothing better than holiday entertaining. Gathering family and friends around the table during the holidays can evoke many strong memories and associations; the crackling fire, clinking of wine glasses, delicious food, good laughs, and all the little details that make hosting such a wonderful and rewarding experience.

This holiday season, make your table setting one your guests will remember forever. After all, the holidays revolve around the dinner table. Here are six easy tips to get you off to the right start.

1. Ditch those paper napkins

It’s the details that always make the biggest difference. This year, swap out those soggy, tired paper napkins for premium cloth napkins from MY DRAP. There is an array of colors and patterns to choose from, and it’s by far the easiest way to elevate your table setting. Drape them over your table or incorporate napkin rings for an elevated look!

Best of all, these napkins can be conveniently disposed of or reused. Browse our Holiday Gift Guide to see some of the creative ways we’ve mixed and matched our napkins, and get inspired!

2. Use texture to add warmth

Use textured placemats to add some visual interest and warmth to your holiday table setting. If rattan is not your thing, go to your local carpenter and have him slice and varnish a tree trunk to create the perfect table chargers. With the cold Winter months, bringing some warmth, texture, and woodsiness to your table sure doesn’t hurt!

3. Choose the perfect dishes

Dishes are important, as they will tie in your table setting and really make a statement. Opt for sleek black dishes if you’re incorporating lighter napkins and accents into your table, for contrast. Or, bring some brightness and freshness to your table with classic white or cream ceramic ware. Pair with gold cutlery for a cool, eclectic vibe. You don’t have to break the bank to make your table look elevated and interesting; layer larger dishes with small ones, incorporate a color theme, or contrast neutral dishes with bright placemats or napkins.

4. Incorporate the outdoors, indoors!

This is the easiest and most cost-effective way to make your table setting beautiful and festive for the holiday season. Scattering cedar or pine branches across the table with acorns and artificial berries adds a stunning festive touch, and creates a warm, cozy setting. Best of all, these decorations can likely be foraged in your nearest park, nature trail, or sometimes even your own backyard!

5. Candles, candles, and more candles!

Nothing creates a warm, cozy ambience than burning a candle….or four. There’s just something about coming in from a cold, blusterous day to bask in the warm, cozy glow of a deliciously scented candle. When hosting a holiday party, having candles lit throughout your house is the best way to really set the mood. At your dinner table, opt for a lightly scented or fragrance-free candle so it doesn’t clash with the delicious smells wafting from your kitchen. Brass candlestick holders also make gorgeous centerpieces, and can be easily found at your local thrift shop or on Etsy!

6. Elevate your holiday entertaining with custom napkins and placemats!
